The government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has revealed that it has successfully evacuated more than 9,000 Ghanaians living off the country’s coasts.
This follows coronavirus-induced land, sea and air border closures in March this year to reduce the spread of the virus.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and copied on GhanaWeb, the government said it has covered the cost of travel and quarantine for Ghanaians arriving from West Africa, the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Asia and the Middle. East.
However, the Ministry expressed its gratitude for the financial assistance it received from some philanthropists and institutions in Ghana.
Meanwhile, Ghana has allowed the reopening of air borders from September 1, 2020 to international traffic as part of efforts to return to normalcy and socio-economic reactivation.
Passengers entering Ghana will have to pay an amount of US $ 150 for the COVID-19 tests to be performed. Passengers will then proceed to the sampling cubicle to collect their samples before descending to the main arrivals hall.
