The decision of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) to allow private high schools to be part of the free SHS is coming under critical scrutiny.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, current Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Basic and Secondary Education, has revealed that the NDC’s promise to include private SHS in the free SHS program is misleading.

“First of all, they said that when they take office, they will use a year to build all the E blocks to eliminate the double track system. So if you build all the E blocks, what are you going to do in private school? “

He continued; “You’ve built all the classrooms you need, what else are you going to do in private schools or is it a great style to fool them? If you don’t understand the private school system, you might think that NDC is making a useful contribution, but that’s not the case. “

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) from Bosomtwe constituency, revealed that he has gifted his private SHS, which is located in the Ashanti region, to the government because it is not a revenue generating company.

“I used to have a private school, but it wasn’t built with the intention of making money, so I turned it over to the government to take over the administration of the school. Right now it bears the name Osei Tutu and is located in the Ashanti region, ”Marfo told Adu Gyamfi on Kingdom FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
