Bia East Member of Parliament Richard Acheampong has been accused by the New Patriotic Party (PNP) in the North West region of forming a vigilante group ahead of the December elections.

According to the NPP, the MP is the sole financier and founder of the vigilante group known as ‘De Eye’.

The NPP alleged that the goal of the vigilante group created by the NDC deputy seeking reelection is to oppress anyone who criticizes his leadership or campaigns against him.

At a press conference organized by the party, the PNP’s North West Region communication director Felix Foster Ackah said the MP should focus on developing the electorate rather than arousing fear.

“We don’t even have a district hospital, a proper police command, the roads are in bad shape and the telephone network here is terrible. Now that the Assembly is doing everything possible and we wait for the Hon. Richard Acheampong to help, he preferred to establish a surveillance force to beat people, ”said the PNP North Western Regional Communication Director.

Therefore, Felix Foster Ackah is asking the authorities to punish the MP for violating Sections 3 (1) (a) (b) as well as 3 (2) of the Surveillance and Related Crimes Act of 2019 (Law 999) that prohibits the creation of a vigilante group.
