Co-owner of the Inter Miami team Jorge Mas posted a photo on Twitter of him alongside the 32-year-old forward shortly after his arrival in the United States.
“A warm welcome to Gonzalo Higuaín, a forward and world class champion, “wrote Mas about the photo.
Inter Miami has Higuaín’s transfer was not officially announced. The former Napoli, Real Madrid and Juventus striker must complete his signing pending a physical examination, sources familiar with the agreement confirmed to AFP. Higuaín has spent the last four years at Juventus, but was loaned to AC Milan in 2018-2019. He also spent part of the 2019 season at Chelsea before returning to Juve. Higuaín played in three World Cups with Argentina and scored 31 goals in 75 international appearances.
Inter Miami, which is owned in part by former England and Manchester United star David Beckham, fought in its first season in Major League Soccer. The club has won just two of 10 matches since it made its debut earlier this year.
Higuaín’s expected move comes after the Acquisition of the Argentine’s former Juventus teammate and the French World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi. The Argentine’s move also means that he will play in MLS with his older brother Federico, who plays for DC United.
