Ghanaian dancehall artist Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, known in music circles as Epixode, has said that Reggae Dancehall’s new artist of the year Ras Kuuku really deserved the VGMA award.

Although Epixode was also nominated in the same category in which Ras Kuuku emerged as the winner, he told Chelsea, host of YFM Takoradi’s Ryse N Shyne show, “Ras Kuuku deserved it. I wouldn’t have voted for anyone other than Kuuku. I am very happy for him. “

The ‘Wahala Dey’ hitmaker revealed that of all the nominations he had, he was especially proud to be nominated in the songwriter of the year category.

“He was like any artist who went to the VGMA hoping to win. Last year I only got one nomination and this year there are four. And most of it is the songwriter of the year who knew, however, that Kofi Kinnata would win hands down. “

Epixode seems not to be bothered by not winning any awards at the VGMA awards, as he expressed that he is satisfied after being nominated in four categories of the awards scheme.

“This is my first time in that category [Songwriter of the Year] and that’s huge for me. That my name is there is something very important to me. Just being nominated in four categories is fine with me, although I wish I had won as an advantage for me. But this also puts me in a space where I know I got four nominations this year, so I need to work to achieve something, “he added.

At this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Epixode garnered four nominations, namely Reggae / Dancehall Artist of the Year, Reggae / Dancehall Song of the Year, Composer of the Year, and Best Video of the Year.

However, he did not win in any of these categories.
