The National Peace Council (NPC) has advised that more Christians should participate in politics and government affairs.
The council’s board member, the Rev. Dr. Amoo Darku, said the best people to take over the government are Christians.
He said the church in the past had failed to encourage its members to participate in matters related to what he said is called “market ministry.”
Speaking about the role of religious organizations ahead of the December general election on Joy News’ AM show Wednesday, he said the idea that the church is expected to move away from politics is a misconception.
He explained that this is because God’s will for humanity requires the participation of Christians in matters of government.
“We had always thought that the works of politics and business were secular, which in itself is incorrect.
“For something to be considered spiritual or secular, it depends on the person associated with it. A spiritual person applies the principles and principles of the gospel to what he does and makes it spiritual.
“If the people involved in politics are not Christian or God-fearing, then of course they are secular and therefore carry out activities with that mindset,” he said.
The Rev. Dr. Adu Gyamfi also spoke on the show, adding that religious leaders are working to instill religious habits in political actors.
The religious cleric warned that it is necessary for politicians to reproduce the lessons of the church in the execution of their responsibilities.
