The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has paid GH ¢ 915 million claims from January to August 2020 to service providers.

In order of payments, a total of 4,292 service providers have been paid, comprising 2,993 public health facilities, 1,038 private health facilities, 228 mission health facilities, and 33 quasi-government health facilities.

This was in a statement from the Authority’s Corporate Affairs Directorate and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

He said that public health establishments received GH ¢ 491,386,957.09, which represents 57.3 percent, while private service providers received GH ¢ 254,873,282.36, 28.7 percent.

The statement said that the mission’s health facilities received GH ¢ 151,747,098.00, which represents 16.6 percent, while the quasi-government service providers received GH ¢ 17,705,908.36, which represents 1.9 percent.

The total breakdown of primary care National Health Insurance Plan (NHIS) facilities is 353 hospitals, representing eight percent, 21 polyclinics (zero percent), 172 pharmacies (four percent), 143 households maternity (three percent), 68 laboratories (two percent)), 726 health centers (17 percent), 51 diagnostic centers (one percent), 376 clinics (nine percent) and 30 chemical product stores (One percent).

It included; 32 ultrasound centers (one percent) and 2318 CHPS compounds (54 percent).

The Authority pleaded with NHIS service providers who had questions about their claims to send them to [email protected] for prompt repair.

He also requested that all claims be submitted on time so that the Authority can provide a faster payment delivery time.
