They have played a crucial role in helping Philippe Clement’s side to two wins in their first four league games this season.

Nigeria’s Emmanuel Dennis, Senegal forwards Youssouph Badji and Krepin Diatta have been shortlisted for the Club Brugge Player of the Month award in August.

The African trio join goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and Belgian midfielder Hans Vanaken in the five-man list released on Sunday.

They have helped Club Brugge rebound after starting their Belgian First Division A title defense campaign in a loss to Sporting Charleroi on 8 August.

Badji and Diatta are Philippe Clement’s team’s top scorers so far this season with two goals apiece, while Dennis has only provided one assist as he awaits his first goal this season.

Diatta scored a double in Club Brugge’s 4-0 demolition of AS Eupen on 16 August, while Badji scored a goal in the match before scoring the winning goal against Genk last Sunday, after Dennis will help Vanaken open the scoring in the match.

The 18-year-old Badji, who joined Blue-Black this year, has started his European career on a promising note with two goals scored in four Belgian top flight matches.

Since the start of the 2020-21 campaign in August, Club Brugge have lost two and won two of their four league games. It is fifth in the Belgian First Division A table, six points behind the leader Sporting Charleroi.

After the international break, they host Waasland-Beveren for their next league game on September 12.
