The talented Ghanaian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Akwaboah has stated that winning an award does not validate it.
He shared this opinion during a live studio discussion with Happyfm.
When asked why he receives international awards for best high-life artist, but local awards seem to elude him, Akwaboah responded by saying he doesn’t have the correct answers to that.
Akwaboah noted that his main goal is to stay focused and work hard to serve his fans with the great music they want to enjoy from him, so he doesn’t get upset when he’s not nominated or doesn’t win awards.
“When I organize shows, you know how many people come, so I cannot define myself by the fact that an awards ceremony has been organized and I did not win any awards. The organizers sat down and decided how they wanted their event to be so that it wouldn’t bother me. ” he affirmed.
“If he comes, it’s fine. If not, I am still Akwaboah ”, added the artist of high life.
