Dagbon deeply grateful to the government for peace – Ya Na Abukari II

The Supreme Lord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abukari II has expressed his gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the immense role he played in ensuring peace and stability in the area.

Ya-Na Abukari expressed her appreciation when Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid her a courtesy visit at Gbewaa Palace on Thursday.

He praised President Akufo-Addo for being the mastermind behind the current wind of peace blowing in the Kingdom of Dagbon and his commitment to the socio-economic development of the area.

“Today is a special day in the lives of the people of the North. A moment of pride that reflects the development that Yendi, and for Dagbon, has gone through the last three years,” Ya-Na Abukari emphasized.

His Royal Majesty Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II wishes to express his gratitude for the unworkable contribution of Dagbon Malti Naa I, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana and to the people for ensuring the peace we enjoy today in Dagbon.

“I want to say categorically that the state of Dagbon is asserting itself with each passing day and is a factor of peace and stability in the country,” said the Distinguished Chief.

Ya-Na Abukari recognized President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to Dagbon’s progress and praised the president for his presence at last year’s Damba Festival.

“Dagbon is particularly grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for honoring last year’s Damba Featival and, most importantly, to his accompanied August guest, Mia Amar Motley, QC, MP, the Prime Minister of Barbados and their dignitaries and high-level ambassadors, which automatically catapulted our previously local Damba celebration into the international arena. ”

“We are also deeply grateful for the launch of the Yendi water supply project in July 2020,” he added.

The Ya-Na applauded Vice President Bawumia for his efforts to ensure development in the north.

Addressing Ya-Na and his elders, Vice President Bawumia assured Dagbon and all northern regions of President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to ensuring further development in the area, especially in the areas of providing critical infrastructure and education.

Apart from the government’s social intervention programs throughout the country, including; the Policy of Free High Schools, One Constituency, One Ambulance, Plant Food and Jobs, One District One Factory.

Dr. Bawumia listed a number of development projects that the Akufo-Addo-led government was undertaking in the north and the Yendi Kingdom, as a demonstration of its unconditional commitment to the progress of the north.

The vice president announced that the government was in talks with the University of Development Studies (UDS) to establish a satellite campus in Yendi.

He also announced the government’s decision to convert the Pong Tamale Veterinary College into a university for agriculture.

Vice President Bawumia is on a working visit to the five northern regions to meet with chiefs and community leaders.

He will also inspect and commission government projects during his tour.

Some government officials who accompany the vice president are; Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defense, Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Anthony Karbo, Deputy Minister of Roads, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Deputy Minister of Energy, Hassan Tampuli, Executive Director of the National Petroleum Authority, and Hajia Abibata Shani Mahama Zakaria, MASLOC Deputy Executive Director.
