Barring any last minute changes, the National Democratic Party (NDP), on Friday, September 4, 2020, hails former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings as its standard-bearer for the 2020 elections.

According to the party’s general secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, Mrs. Rawlings emerged as the top of the three applicants.

He told Citinewsroom.com that the NDP will hold its Congress between September 4-5, 2020 in Accra.

Frimpong opined that the special guest of honor at his Congress will be former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He also noted that his Congress will strictly follow all COVID-19 protocols.

This Friday due to COVID-19 protocols, five [delegates] each of the 16 regions will flock to Accra for an internal session to support the flag bearer and national executives. And on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm will be the outdooring of our national officials, including the flag bearer.. “

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings founded the National Democratic Party (NDP) in October 2012.

She separated from her husband’s party to form her own party.

In 2012, the Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified her and 11 other presidential candidates for failing to meet the requirements before the September 30 deadline to submit nomination documents.

She contested again in 2016 on the NDP ballot.
