President Akufo Addo has cut grass for the extension of the five-district water project to Adaklu in the Volta region and its contiguous districts.

During the ceremony, the president said that the Adaklu water project, when completed, will result in an increase in water coverage in the region by 6%.

It will also help reduce the time spent fetching water and therefore especially relieve women and children of the burden, he added.

“The government will not back down in its efforts to increase access to water for all, a commitment from the 2016 PNP manifesto that remains a key priority,” he told the people of Adaklu.

President Akufo-Addo noted that the government will continue to create an enabling environment by providing social infrastructure in rural communities.

This, he explained, will attract more investors to the areas, adding that they will take advantage of flagship programs like One District One Factory and build more factories which, in turn, will create jobs for young people.

“Although the government is committed to fulfilling its social responsibility, we expect the beneficiary communities to contribute their quota to guarantee the sustainability of these services,” added President Akufo-Addo.

Also at the ceremony, the Supreme Head of Adaklu, Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, praised the president and his government for their development projects, especially the ongoing construction of the 26-kilometer road that started from Akuettey to Adaklu Waya, which now it is paved.

Torgbega Gbobi Atsa v called on the government to consider creating a pasture bank in Adaklu like Afram Plains did to help solve the problem of the threat of normal cattle grazing in the area.
