The Director of Communications of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP), Yaw Buaben Asamoah believes that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed the launch of its manifesto from August to September to read that of the PNP to enable the party (NDC)) edit and correct your manifest.

According to him, the NDC had nothing better to offer Ghanaians in its manifesto and needed to take a hint from the NPP manifesto, which had been released and received massive applause from the Ghanaian people.

Buaben Asamoah, who was addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday afternoon, August 31, 2020, said that the NDC’s deliberate decision to postpone the launch of its manifesto was a clear indication that the party had nothing best to offer to the people of Ghana. .

Background

The NPP released its manifesto for the 2020 general election on August 22, 2020 at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the Central Region.

However, its main contender for the 2020 general election, the NDC, had set Monday, August 31, 2020, as the date for the launch of its manifesto. This was announced by the party’s National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, on August 24, 2020.

But the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, said in a statement that the party had set Monday, September 7, 2020, as the date for the launch of the party’s manifesto in Accra for the December 2020 general election.

According to Mr. Asiedu-Nketiah, the decision to postpone the launch until September 7 “is to allow the National Executive Committee and the Council of Elders to approve the principles and policy strategies promised in the Manifesto.”

Why the delay?

But for Mr. Buaben Asamoah, even before the PNP had thought of putting together its manifesto, the NDC had told Ghanaians that it had started gathering ideas from the Ghanaian population to allow the party to prepare its manifesto and wondered why that the party was still unable to release its manifesto as promised.

According to him, the only reason that prevented the NDC from releasing its manifesto was because the party had no substance in its manifesto and wanted to take time to read the PNP manifesto so that it could polish its own.

He said the PNP manifesto offered hope and had been prepared to catalyze the development and transformation of the country.

Buaben Asamoah said it would be suicidal for Ghanaian voters to hand over the leadership of the country to the NDC, which had nothing to offer, and noted that the PNP manifesto had clearly spelled out what the party would do in its next government.

No more experimentation

He said, for example, that mobile money interoperability that brought the current government about US $ 400 million was to be executed by the opposition government NDC for more than US $ 1 billion.

That, he said, was due to the incompetence of the NDC government, noting that the short period of the PNP government led by President Akufo-Addo had brought so much development to the country.

He said former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also the NDC’s standard bearer, “just can’t do it” when he’s elected president.

Mr. Buaben Asamoah explained that Mr. Mahama had had every opportunity to serve the country and during his tenure, he did not bring any development to the people of the country, saying that “the candidate Mahama represents nothing.”

He said, “We cannot afford to go back to the days of experimentation” and that Mr. Mahama’s idea that he had learned the lessons of the opposition and wanted a second chance cannot be trusted.

According to him, governance was not a process of experimentation and that Ghana cannot entrust its leadership to Mr. Mahama, emphasizing that “Ghana and the lives of Ghana cannot be used for experimentation.”

Therefore, he has asked Ghanaians to reject Mahama’s request for a second chance to run the country, as “the country is not looking for a maintenance officer, but a leader.”
