The National Disinfection Team led by Zoomlion Ghana Limited has begun disinfecting Terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) as part of preparations for its reopening.

The exercise is part of the guidelines issued by President Akufo-Addo during his sixteenth address to the nation on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

In his latest update, the president had reopened the airport to international passenger traffic, after five months of closure and the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

While the country’s land and sea borders would remain closed, the president had explained that the airport could now be opened as public health officials can now conduct rapid tests to allow the isolation of passengers who could arrive in the country with the virus.

During the disinfection exercise, ZoomLion Ghana’s Environment and Sanitation Division Operations Director Florence Larbi said the activity will now take place on a quarterly basis.

He also assured passengers of safety as the facility reopens to the outside world tomorrow.
