Fans were required to observe social distancing measures and wear face covers both inside and outside the stadium, but they could remove them once in their seat.

Soccer fans were able to enter a Premier League stadium for the first time in nearly six months as 2,500 watched Saturday’s friendly between Brighton and Chelsea.

Seagulls supporters were able to attend the game at Amex Stadium as part of a government test event for the return of fans to the stadiums for matches.

Football was suspended in March due to the global coronavirus pandemic, and the 2019-20 English top-flight season was restarted behind closed doors in June.

Saturday’s game ended 1-1, Pascal Gross drawing at the end from the penalty spot after German striker Timo Werner’s first goal for the club would have given Chelsea the lead.

This week, several Blues players were quarantined after returning from their summer vacation.

It is not known if any player has tested positive for Covid-19.
