Transfer news: Thomas Tuchel greets Sergio Agüero amid Chelsea ties
According to the Mirror news outlet, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has hailed Manchester City star Sergio Aguero amid transfer links.
Aguero, 32, is in the final months of his contract with the Premier League leaders. And it was confirmed last week that the Argentine international will leave the club when his contract ends at the end of the season.
This development has sparked great interest in Agüero, with a host of clubs from England and Europe vying for his signature. Chelsea has also been credited with great interest in a transfer for Agüero.
And when asked about the speculation, Blues coach Thomas Tuchel greeted the Manchester City star.
“We have full respect for Manchester City and for Sergio Agüero, who is a great player for them. I don’t need words about the achievements of this guy, he is a world-class player. “
However, Tuchel refused to address the Chelsea ties head-on, insisting that Aguero was still a Manchester City player and, by extension, a Chelsea rival.
“But don’t forget, we competed in three competitions for Manchester City, so I will never talk about their players or talk about a player’s future. We are rivals and, as I said, I don’t need words to praise Sergio Agüero’s career. It is exceptional and speaks for itself.
“He is still a City player and will help them achieve their goals, which is a huge shock for our goals because we are following the same things.”
More news from Chelsea:
Chelsea had recently been touted as the favorite to sign Agüero. Given his incredible Premier League record, the 32-year-old may be a good signing in the short term. More so, considering that Olivier Giroud’s contract is running out soon.
However, it remains to be seen if there is any genuine interest from the club in signing him.
