An amount of ¢ 45.5 million has been assigned to Parliament for the construction of 70 district offices for deputies to Parliament.

According to the Special Budget Committee, constituency offices will facilitate the work of House members by creating nonpartisan and neutral spaces for all constituents to interact with their representatives.

The committee also indicated that successful implementation of the project would further deepen the representative role of parliamentarians by bringing them closer to their constituents.

However, the committee is concerned that the procurement process for the construction of the facilities has not yet begun.

The construction of the offices will constitute the first phase of the project.

Parliament intends to build 70 such offices annually for a total of 275 such facilities by the end of 2024.

The processes observed by the committee will soon begin for the award of the construction contract.

This was reflected in the report of the Special Budget Committee on the 2021 budget estimate for Parliament.
