South Africa will not participate in the 2021 African Cup of Nations after losing 2-0 to Sudan on Sunday night.
Bafana Bafana needed to beat Sudan in their last qualifying match, but they were surprised with two first-half goals from Saifeldin Bakhit and Mohamed Abdel Raman.
Bakhit gave the hosts the lead after just three minutes, and the visitors couldn’t find their way back.
His hopes of getting back into the game were shattered after Raman doubled the hosts’ lead in the 32nd minute, putting them on the path to a memorable victory, returning to AFCON for the first time since 2012.

Sudan now becomes the 18th team to reserve a spot in the final, to be held in Cameroon.
