The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, has reiterated the determination of the Ghana Police Service to ensure peace and ensure the safety of the public.

“We will continue to intensify day and night patrols, rapid checks, intelligence-led raids, highway and residential patrols, motorized traffic control strategies, community engagement and safety awareness workshops,” he said.

They were unveiled by Mr. Oppong-Boanuh at an ultra-modern police station lawn mowing ceremony for Asikasu No.1 in the Bono region, to address the security needs of the area.

He said contemporary policing is a shared responsibility, especially as crime has become sophisticated with the advancement of Information and Communication Technology.

The public, he said, should partner with law enforcement in fighting crime by offering information about criminal activities in their communities.

The IGP commended the heads and people of Asikasu No.1 for initiating and financing the project, that the police provided the construction plan and would provide technical support for its completion.

He thanked the chiefs and residents of the area for supporting the Police, which, he said, would be of great help in solving some of the operational challenges of the Service, urging everyone to emulate the gesture.

He also praised Nana Ampabeng Kyeremeh, Head of Asikasu No.1; Odeneho Akosua Fima Dwabeng II, Dormaa Hemaa; Drissa Quattara, municipal executive director and president for the occasion; Mr. Oppong Yeboah from the National Health Insurance Office in Dormaa: clergy and community members present to ensure that the community has a police station.

He reminded the staff to be professional, respect the civil liberties and human rights of people, thus making their work effective.

Mr. Oppong-Boanuh cautioned that unethical conduct by any staff would not be considered, and stated that workers would be recognized.

The IGP was accompanied by the COP, Mr. Samuel Money, General / Technical Director; COP Mr. Owusu Boateng, Regional Commander of the Bono Police; ACP Mr. Owusu Ansah, Director of Personnel and other officials in the region.
