Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori Atta has returned home after seeking medical treatment for complications he suffered after recovering from the coronavirus.

His doctors have told Mr. Ofori-Atta to reduce the workload so that he can make a full recovery.

He attributed his recovery to divine intervention, as he acknowledges that even the doctors felt that “someone from above” was taking care of him.

Mr. Ofori-Atta had to fly to the United States of America (USA) to seek medical attention after suffering post-Covid complications.

He virtually joined a post-budget forum hosted by KPMG on Tuesday, March 16.

During that event, he said, “For me personally, I think I would like to reiterate how merciful the Lord has been to me and also grateful for the prayer support of my family.

“The challenge is my post-COVID-19 symptoms. It is in the Bible that it says that Peter was therefore in prison, but prayers were made unceasingly for the church and for him and I have felt how God miraculously released Peter from prison because the saints prayed for him.

He added: “The doctors here have been fantastic and very dedicated, but even they recognize that there must be someone upstairs taking care of me because the numbers were so critical. So thank you very much for your fervent prayers that have saved me. “

Despite missing his background investigation, prompting the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to authorize the Minister of State in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, to read the 2021 budget statement and the government financial policy, Mr. Ofori-Atta, who has been the Minister of Finance since 2017, shared his thoughts, particularly on the Covid recovery efforts by various governments around the world.

“… Globally, countries seek to preserve lives and livelihoods and stimulate economic growth amid this pandemic and I believe that [Ghana] they are doing no less. “
