The executive director of the Atta Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, has called on the national president of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, to stop handing over his authority as party leader to others or to step aside.

According to him, the NDC constitution is clear about who should exercise control as leader when the party is in opposition, in this case Samuel Ofosu Ampofo; and not the presidential candidate.

Speaking in Ok FM ‘s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the former Deputy Secretary General of the NDC charged the national party chairman to fulfill that responsibility and instill discipline in the party.

“I cannot hide my feeling; if Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is not ready to be the president and leader of the NDC, he should step aside … the constitution of the NDC as it stands now, when the party is in opposition, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is the leader of the NDC, like it or not “, chided.

He pointed out that the NDC constitution does not allow the National President to cede his authority to anyone else in the party, and so he wondered why he (Ampofo) is allowing party officials to misbehave without calling them to order.

He is the leader of the party; Why are you silent on the Sammy Gyamfi case? He prefers to talk about Koku Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs when he cannot discipline his own officers. He can’t discipline his own officers and wants to talk about Koku Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs.”He was enraged.
