Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick admits that he “cannot rule out anything” regarding the possibility of the club signing Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland in the future.
Since joining Signal Iduna Park from Red Bull Salzburg at the end of 2019, Haaland has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe, scoring 45 goals in 46 games in all of the German club’s competitions.
Haaland’s last goals, his 18th and 19th Bundesliga goals of the campaign, came in the first nine minutes at the Allianz Arena on Saturday as Dortmund took a 2-0 lead at Bayern Munich before finally losing by 4-2 at Der Klassiker.
The 20-year-old’s imperious form has linked him with some of the best clubs on the continent, including Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
“There are many possibilities in life and nothing can be ruled out. But it is music of the future and he has a long-term contract in Dortmund,” Flick told Sky Germany when asked about the possibility of Bayern signing Haaland. .
The Norwegian is under contract in Dortmund until June 2024, but reportedly has a £ 66 million (€ 76 million) release clause that can be activated in the summer of 2022.
Flick admitted that Bayern are interested in the forward who has been touted as a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Robert Lewandowski.
“He is a player who is certainly a possibility for many important clubs, who are also thinking about him. That is what makes him stand out, of course,” added Flick.
“As for the future, we don’t all know. Things can move very, very fast in football. That’s why I’m not really worried.”
Dortmund beat Manchester United with Haaland’s signing in December 2019 after a move to Old Trafford was broken despite the club meeting its € 20 million buyout clause. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently admitted that he is closely monitoring his compatriot’s progress and is confident that Haaland will have a “fantastic” career.
Dortmund are sixth in the Bundesliga following their loss to league leaders Bayern, four points behind the Champions League spots.
They will face Sevilla in the knockout stages of the Champions League on Tuesday. Head coach Edin Terzic has said Haaland should be fit for the return tie after he was substituted on Saturday following a blow to the ankle he suffered in a collision with Bayern defender Jerome Boateng.
Who will launch on Erling Haaland this summer?
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth tells the Pitch to Post podcast …
“This is shaping up to be one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer, if not years.
“Let’s not forget that Borussia Dortmund managed to get Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg for around £ 17 million in January 2020.
“We understand that the buyout clause is around 75 million euros, that is, around 66 million pounds, which will come into force in the summer of 2022. What that means is that Dortmund can ask for what they want this summer.”
“With that in mind, you wonder if a club that can afford Haaland is thinking: can we get everyone out of the water to make sure we catch him, this summer?
“His agent Mino Raiola has said that four Premier League clubs would be interested in making a deal: Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.”
