Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin said on Wednesday that Parliament would require no less than 6,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to carry out the inoculation in the House.

He said the 2,000 doses of vaccine assigned to the House were woefully inadequate and that no fewer than 6,000 doses of vaccine would be required for effective exercise.

Spokesperson Bagbin made the statement when he read a letter from the Korle Klottey Municipal Health Directorate, signed by Ms Jennifer Andoh, Municipal Director of Health Services, announcing the National Segmented Vaccination Campaign saying 2,000 doses had been allocated. of COVID-19 vaccines for the Legislature.

The vaccination exercise aims to stop the rapid transmission of the infection and reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease.

Spokesperson Bagbin explained that the Legislature went beyond the 275 members of Parliament, 574 staff, support services and auxiliary personnel, including, by law, four members of the MP’s family, and that it was the responsibility of the Legislature for the health of MPs and their families, including their spouses.
