Ms Joyce Esi Benson, coordinator of Adolescent Corner, on Monday called on the government to prioritize the needs of adolescents in the wake of LGBTQ activities in Ghana.
Ms Benson told Ghana’s news agency in Tema that teenagers were easy targets for LGBTQ advocates and should be protected.
He said that institutions that provide support to adolescents must have adequate funding to carry out programs and projects for the protection of adolescents.
“We leave teenagers generally uninformed about basic issues that make them vulnerable,” Madam Benson said.
Ms. Benson said that pregnant teens needed social and financial support to access prenatal care and ensure a safe delivery.
However, the parents of these teenage pregnant women are often disappointed and neglect their wards.
He said young adults needed ongoing education, mentoring and other community support from stakeholders.
“Young people need security, as most of these pregnant girls want to go back to school after giving birth,” she said.
Mrs. Rebecca Palison, Assistant Nurse at the Teen Center, called on government and non-governmental agencies to support young mothers in realizing their dreams.
Meanwhile, Wisdom Aditse, Tema Metro’s public health officer, praised churches within the metropolis for complying with the reimposition of COVID-19 protocols.
