John Peter Amewu’s approval is on hold
Information Minister Designated Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Designated Mavis Hawa Koomson have been rejected by minority members on the nominating committee.
The designated Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has also been rejected by members of the minority for arrogance on the part of the nominee.
The minority members also accuse Oppong Nkrumah of inciting the Supreme Court against a member of the petitioners’ legal team in the ongoing electoral petition. Members of the minority also rejected Hawa Kommson, stating that she was unfit for ministry.
However, twenty-two ministerial candidates for President Akufo-Addo have been unanimously approved by Parliament’s Appointments Committee, according to Ibrahim Alhassan, EIB parliamentary correspondent.
The committee also requires clarification on five others, while the three rejected may require a majority decision by vote in Parliament.

In the case of the designated Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwaku Owusu Afriyie Akoto, members of the minority side of the Nominating Committee accused him of being arrogant when he appeared before the committee and, on that basis, will not approve his nomination. .
The minority part of the Appointments Committee will formally communicate with the corresponding authorities to indicate the clarifications they need regarding the five remaining nominations of President Akufo-Addo.
