Faithful and family pay their last respects to the late Reverend Seth Agidi
Dozens of Ghanaians paid their last respects last Saturday to the immediate past Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Rt Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi, whose leadership is said to have left an indelible mark on the history of the church. .
The late Rev. Dr. Agidi was mourned by distinguished personalities, including clergy, politicians, journalists, and others during a funeral held at the EP Church Dela Cathedral in Ho.
The former Moderator passed away on October 10 last year at the age of 65.
Tributes
“He made theological education and ministerial training available to all, and he did well to promote additional training opportunities for pastors. This enabled many to be well equipped in ministry and service and also trained to witness and carry out mission in a changing world. You will be interested to know that about eight pastors completed their doctoral studies during their tenure, ”said EP Church in a tribute.
“With the passing of the Rev. Dr. Agidi, the world church and most importantly the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Ghanaian family has lost a great leader who exemplified sacrifice, modeled servant leadership and who, Until the last moment, he remained faithful even in his proving the disease, ”added the church.
Many of those who praised Rev. Dr. Agidi described him as approachable, crafty, and humble.
The Moderator of the Church, Rt Rev. Dr. Lt Col BDK Agbeko (retired), prayed for strength for the church and the family of the late Moderator, saying, “I believe that the death of our former leader does not mean that God has abandoned Us. Humanitarian efforts
Rev. Agidi demonstrated a passion for the underprivileged by establishing the Pastor’s Center on Aging to care for the elderly who might have been left to fend for themselves with little or no help.
The center, established in 2004 as a non-governmental organization, now has more than 200 satellite centers in the Volta and Oti regions.
The widow, Ms Madeleine Akpene Kadji Agidi, described her late husband as her safety, comfort, and an irreplaceable partner, while her four children described him as a true family man who made sure their personalities and perspectives were right. balanced.
A trained teacher, Rt Rev. Agidi enrolled at Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon, and then enrolled for graduate study at Eden Theological Seminary in the USA.
He was ordained a church minister in 1989 and had served the church in different capacities, including as a church moderator since 2015.
