A group aligned with the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) in the Upper East region asked President Akufo-Addo and the party’s regional executives not to replace their former executive director of the Bongo district (DCE).

The Concerned NPP Faithful’s says Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga is not qualified to oversee district events on behalf of the president.

In a statement, the group accused the former DCE of provoking the defeat of the PNP in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections in the Bongo constituency.

According to the group, the DCE is taking their tolerance for weakness, thus insulting their intelligence.

In the five-page statement, the group highlighted some 19 alleged misdeeds perpetrated by Ayamga since taking office.

The Concerned NPP Faithful’s believes that due to the allegations, its former DCE is not qualified to be re-elected.

Among the accusations, the group complained that the former DCE has denied party agents the payment they are owed after the 2020 elections.

They also accused him of embezzling funds intended for the party for his own parish interest.

“Our DCE continues to undermine the intelligence, tolerance and leniency of party members in the constituency to a level that members can no longer tolerate, endure and adapt,” the statement read.

However, in an interview with JoyNews, Ayamga described the accusations as “unfounded” and “false”.

According to him, he has written to the Regional Party Secretariat in response to the allegations.

Peter Ayinbisa emphasized that he will not participate in any “social media” exchanges with his accusers, adding that he believes the party is capable of handling the matter.

He said that in everything the supreme interest of the party reigns, so he would wait for the party leaders to pronounce on the matter.

According to him, the group is doing it to paint him black and have his favorite appointed to represent the government in the district.

“At the end of the day, the appointing authority will make the decision to retain me or appoint someone else. My work is there for all to see, ”he said.
