Hearts of Oak head coach Kosta Papic resigned after two months in office.
Papic decided to step down after disagreements with the club’s board last week.
His departure is expected to be made public in the next 48 hours.
Goalkeeping coach Ben Owu also resigned for personal reasons.
Added to these exits is that of Asare Bediako, an assistant coach who resigned about two weeks ago.
Before accepting the head coach position at Hearts of Oak, the 60-year-old had an imminent offer from Azam FC in Tanzania.
Joy Sports sources say he accepted Hearts’ job as a “temporary resource” to keep busy while he awaited the offer from Azam FC, where preliminary discussions were positive.
Azam FC’s offer, however, was delayed, influencing his decision to return to El Roble for a second term.
It is not clear if he has received the offer, but what we do know is that there was a meeting with the board that ended in disagreements over his questioning about his understanding of football.
This, the board members did not take lightly. Another meeting on Monday failed to convince Papic to stay, and sources have told Joy Sports that he resigned.
It seems that the relationship with the phobians was not always going to last, since only three people attended their first meeting with the leadership.
Many board members, including CEO Frederick Moore, who later resigned, were unaware of his appointment.
Joy Sports was made to understand that the CEO was not known because he had been absent for three weeks. When the club’s management finally contacted him, Moore said he suffered from diarrhea, which explains why he left his duty position unceremoniously.
Vincent Sowah Odotei, who brought Papic to introduce him to the team, was accused of pushing his way into the club’s spotlight after a failed political career that angered many.
We are also made to understand that when Papic met with Hearts of Oak after his appointment was confirmed, he requested a technical department to scout for opponents who were to be manned by Faisal Chibsah, Yussif Chibsah’s younger brother, but Odotei said that the club needed a ‘video editor to upload videos to YouTube’.
Kosta Papic is alleged to have questioned the club’s understanding of modern football. However, he decided to work despite the lack of technical support from the club. In fact, he was encouraged to accept the role that was being offered, but Faizal was reluctant.
It was also alleged that he was unhappy with a salary of $ 4,000 per month.
With recent results that did not favor the team’s march on the field, he was questioned and disclosed the team’s failures including his areas of dissatisfaction with walking.
Many say the board did not feel respected, but was willing to work with him. He insisted that questioning his work amounted to interference.
As previously stated, it is unclear whether he is heading to Tanzania or will return to South Africa, where he managed the Orlando Pirates.
Papic was named Hearts coach on December 1, 2020. He took over ten games that resulted in wins over Dreams FC, Bechem United, King Faisal and Eleven Wonders, but has failed to get a win in his last four games against Medeama, Berekum Chelsea, Great Olympics and Legon Cities.
