Two thieves were killed after an attack on a Renault / Hyundai car dealership in Atico Junction along the Kaneshie-Odorkor highway.
The deceased were members of the armed group that pounced on a cashier at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday at the facility and snatched the bag containing the day’s sales.
As the incident unfolded, staff from the Accra Regional Police Command moved and sparked an exchange of gunfire.
According to the police, two of the assailants suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to the Police Hospital for treatment, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
One of the deceased robbers was later identified as Bright Nyarko, 24, a former employee of the company, while the other has yet to be identified.
However, the other union members fled the scene and remain at large.
One of the victims’ bags contained an automatic pistol with 5 rounds of 9mm ammunition and GHS 3,650.00 in cash.
The two bodies have been deposited in the Morgue of the Police Hospital for their preservation, identification and autopsy.
