Lionel Messi is just one goal away from equaling the record for most goals scored by a substitute in La Liga, an incredible feat for a player who starts the vast majority of the games he plays in.
The Argentine only follows Julio Salinas by one goal, 27-28, after he scored a quick draw against Real Betis. He scored with a left-footed shot to the right post just two minutes after entering, in FC Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Betis.
Salinas, best known for his stays in Barcelona, Athletic de Bilbao and Atlético de Madrid, was a Spanish international who began his career in the 1980s and retired in 2000.
