Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has indicated that structures in the music industry must function properly to protect musicians who are currently not profiting from their craft.
According to SM Boss, royalties owed to Ghanaian musicians are not paid; this, he says, has made many artists “poor”. He added that many of his colleagues have to look to the small funds generated by broadcasting on digital platforms as their source of income when they are not playing shows.
In search of a solution to the endless challenges faced by musicians in Ghana, Shatta Wale has revealed that he had a meeting with the former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obuor during the Weekend. .
He thanked Obuor for his wise advice while stating in his post that Ghanaian music should be suitable.
See the post below:
The message seen by GhanaWeb reads: “Great advice from my former president of the musicians union last weekend… Thank you big brother ???????? @obourbice ?? #Ghanamusicshallprosper “.
Following the president’s announcement of the selection of Deputy Minister for his second administration, Shatta Wale has opposed the appointment of Mark Okraku Mantey as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts.
According to him, Mr. Okraku is not in a position to fill such a position if he takes a look at his background in the entertainment industry.
“I swear, if I hear that Okraku Mantey has been nominated as Vice Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, I would be forced to form a political party that will oppose the current government because Mark Okraku has no knowledge to help drive the industry. . “
“Let Mark Okraku come and tell us about the kind of change that he has brought to the creative industry all these years that he has been there? He is part of Mentor and how many of those people have left music and now have left music and are doing their private business? Shatta questioned.
