If you thought there was an undramatic deadline awaiting us in the world of Real Madrid, get ready for a little more drama. In addition to more discussions about Zinedine Zidane’s future in the White House, there are more last-minute riots regarding Isco.
The Andalusian midfielder still wants a transfer out of the club, and his desire to leave has been strengthened by the fact that Real’s coaching staff didn’t even ask him to warm up in the eventual 2-1 loss to Levante.
According to a report by Marco Ruiz de AS (report in Spanish), Isco feels “humiliated” because Zinedine Zidane and David Bettoni brought the Castilla winger Sergio Arribas without even warming him up. Arribas entered the match for Marco Asensio along with Mariano Díaz (for Karim Benzema) after the coaches had already removed Eden Hazard for Vinicius Junior about 20 minutes earlier. Zidane / Bettoni never used their two remaining substitutes.
According to Ruiz’s previous report, Isco’s trust in the coaching staff is now “totally broken.”
It’s hard to imagine Real Madrid finding a landing spot for Isco
This is not the only report that uses exactly the same language as Isco feeling “humiliated” after the Levante game, as Deportes Cuatro reported something similar (also in Spanish).
Is it all an exaggeration? Is Isco simply looking to force Real Madrid’s hand so he can play more elsewhere and get into Luis Enrique’s team?
I’m not sure, but I do know that Isco could find his rhythm with a smaller club that can give him a chance to be the center of attention. Isco is the type of player who thrives on the ball and needs to get into rhythm to make a difference. He has a bit of streaks like that and at a club like Real Madrid his style of playing with the ball can sometimes frustrate fans, teammates and coaches when he holds the ball too much. We saw how this hurt the team in the loss to Alcoyano, as Isco looked good but didn’t help the team with his dribbling somewhat aimlessly.

It is impossible for Real Madrid to find a destination for Isco on the day of the deadline, right? The Real has no offers for him, and they don’t have the kind of depth to allow them to take a low offer. Isco can play well for Real, but he must once again prove his worth. Zidane goes with the best for the position and, right now, Isco is on the periphery.
