James Garner has yet to score a goal with the first team in his career

Nottingham Forest have signed James Garner from Manchester United on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old midfielder had been on loan for a season at championship rival Watford for Forest, but that deal has been cut short to allow him to move to the City Ground.

England’s youth international has not started for the Hornets since Xisco Muñoz took over as coach last month.

Garner’s three starts at Old Trafford came in the Europa League last season.

He has entered as a substitute twice in the Premier League for the Red Devils and played 21 times for Watford in the first part of this season.

“James is a promising young talent in central midfield and that is an area where we have had injury and player shortage issues in recent weeks,” Forest manager Chris Hughton told the club’s website.

“He has had a good stint at Watford where he has gained much-needed Championship experience and we are confident that he will be a valuable asset to us from now until the end of the season.”
