Manchester United have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign Roma forward and former Manchester City star Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko was left out of the Serie A team’s 4-3 win over Spezia on Saturday and is training alone after a fight with coach Paulo Fonseca.
Pep Guardiola’s team rejected the possibility of re-signing the forward, but the Bosnian international could still end up in Manchester with Corriere dello Sport reporting that the Bosnian international could be on his way to Old Trafford.
Odion Ighalo’s loan deal with the Red Devils ended this month with the 31-year-old returning to Shanghai Shenhua, meaning there could be room for a new forward.
Dzeko won five trophies with rivals City between 2011 and 2015 before leaving to join Roma.
The forward has been an important player for the Italians with 114 goals in 224 games, but appears to be leaving after his disagreement with Fonseca.
The couple got into a fight after Gianluca Gomba was fired. The coach was fired after it emerged that Roma had made an illegal trade in their Coppa Italia tie with Spezia.
Dzeko and the rest of his teammates reportedly refused to train following the decision before a meeting was held to change their minds. However, the forward has been excluded from the first team setup ever since.
He could still stay in Italy with the forward in discussions about a loan deal to Inter Milan that could see Alexis Sánchez move in the opposite direction.
Sánchez has two goals and four assists in 19 games this season after completing a permanent move from Man United last summer.
Dzeko has eight goals and two assists in all competitions. Roma are currently four points behind Inter in the Serie A table.
