Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban claimed his first career trophy after his last-minute goal secured a 2-1 win against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Turkish Cup final on Wednesday.
Trabzonspor were able to hold out against bookmaker favorite Basaksehir at Atatürk Olimpiyat in the first half of the final.
Cape Verdean international Jorge Djaniny opened the scoring two minutes into the second stage to put Trabzonspor ahead.
Former Senegalese forward Demba Ba leveled the score after scoring his powerful penalty on goalkeeper Mert Gunok in the 58th minute.
With five minutes remaining on the clock, Ekuban appeared with the winning goal after running away from opponents, including goalkeeper Gunok.
Ghana’s goal proved to be the difference between the two sides.
It is his first major title in his young career.
