Legon Cities head coach Bashir Hayford expects center forward Asamoah Gyan to return to action before the end of the first round of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
The former Black Stars captain has been out since December with a groin injury and there appears to be a date set for his return.
Speaking after their 5-2 win over Legon Cities on Saturday, Bashir Hayford expressed hope that Gyan will join the team before the end of the first round of the season.
The expert said that Gyan still ranks high in his plans and will make use of his services once he’s ready.
Kotoko’s former coach said that even if Gyan shows up with 20% training, he will line him up for a competitive game.
Asamoah Gyan complained about his groin just two days before our match and the physio gave him two weeks to come back, there is no coach that has Asamoah Gyan on his team and bench. If Gyan is 20% fit I’ll use him, I can only say hopefully we could see him before the end of the first round, ”he said.
Gyan joined Legon Cities in an annual deal worth $ 1 million.
Ghana’s record scorer has played just three games for the Royals, who are 17th in the 18-team league.
