Ilkay Gundogan has scored seven goals in the Premier League this season, his best season for goals in the top five European leagues.
West Brom took another beating home as Manchester City rose to the top of the Premier League table emphatically.
No team in Europe’s top five divisions has conceded as many goals at home as Sam Allardyce’s Albion and they were ruthlessly exposed again by a brilliant display of attack.
For the second week in a row, City were the beneficiary of a controversial offside call, but there is little doubt that they would have beaten the hosts regardless.
Ilkay Gundogan continued his inspired career in front of goal with two excellent goals, Joao Cancelo scored while an offside flag was raised and several players appeared to stop, and Riyad Mahrez drove in a quarter before the break.
Raheem Sterling sprang into action in the second half as City finished a day on top of the table for the first time this season.
The defeat leaves 19th-ranked West Brom six points from safety heading into a massive game against Fulham on Saturday, live on BBC One, the BBC Sport website and the iPlayer.
