Atta-Mills Institute Executive Director Koku Anyidoho has attacked people who have argued that the late former President Jerry John Rawlings cannot be credited with the fourth Republican dispensation.

He argued that people who make such claims only do it to tickle themselves.

Anyidoho opined that those who believe in Rawlings’ contributions will continue to attribute the fourth Republican dispensation to him because his compatriots stayed in power for several years without allowing a fair process for people to choose their leaders.

He said that even in so-called civil dispensations, some leaders have refused to give up power.

Koku Anyidoho highlighted: “today we will give you credit, tomorrow we will give you credit… We all know what has happened in some countries. We’ll give Rawlings credit today, we’ll give him credit tomorrow for the 4th Republican dispensation. So those who want to say that he shouldn’t be credited can have their side of the argument. But his side of the argument won’t change the facts of the story that Rawlings will always be credited by our 4th Republican dispensation.

He praised the late Rawlings saying that despite his shortcomings and excesses, he was a leader who served his nation with dignity, integrity and responsibility.

He said the late Rawlings set records that people can view positively or negatively.

On the issue of women’s empowerment, he praised the late Rawlings for his role and that of his loving wife, Ms. Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The late Rawlings, he added, was dedicated and committed to serving his nation and should be celebrated for his contribution to national development.

He claimed that the late Rawlings also contributed to global politics and even when the United Nations had asked countries to withdraw their troops from Rwanda during the genocide, the late Rawlings were left with the Ghanaian troops and then the UN reversed their decision.
