Originally acquired by the Timbers on a one-year loan on January 31, 2020, Mora scored seven goals and two assists in 19 games (13 as a starter) during the 2020 MLS regular season.

“We are delighted to bring Felipe back for the long term as he is an accomplished international striker in the prime of his career,” Timbers head coach Giovanni Savarese said in a statement. “Felipe fit in perfectly with the group last year, and we can’t wait for him to continue to be a key contributor to the Timbers.”

Mora’s new contract uses specific allocation funds. No specific terms were disclosed.

Mora, 27, scored 19 goals in 65 appearances (50 starts) at Punas UNAM from 2018-20. That followed the periods with the Cruz Azul of Liga MX (2017-18) and with the University of Chile (2016-17) in the First Division of Chile.

He also competed for the Chilean national team, most recently in a World Cup qualifier against Venezuela on November 17.
