Barcelona expect to have some ins and outs during this January transfer window, but one player who will stay at the Camp Nou is Junior Firpo.
Carles Alena has already left the club, signing on loan from Getafe until the end of the season, and the Blaugrana are looking to push other players towards the starting gate as well.
However, despite the fact that Granada arrived with a query for Junior, in general the offers for the left back have not met the financial demands of Barcelona or the player’s sports demands.
As such, it seems more and more likely that the 24-year-old will remain a Barcelona player at the end of the window. Only a surprise last-minute offer could make him leave.
Barcelona is aware that Junior’s departure could lead to more headaches, as it would leave Jordi Alba without a natural substitute. Sergino Dest can replace there, but must start in his preferred right-back role due to Sergi Roberto’s injury.
The only other option would be for Ronald Koeman to look at the B team, where there are no prominent candidates to enter. Therefore, Junior will only leave Barcelona if a really good offer arrives.
It seems difficult for the rest of the squad to leave in January, as Riqui Puig continues to insist that he does not want to go on loan, while Martin Braithwaite has made it clear that he is very happy at the club.
