Pelosi urges Pence to impeach Trump or the Democrats will impeach him
The extraordinary measure was still under consideration as Pence felt there is a risk that the president will become more unstable during his final days in office, a source close to Pence told CNN.
However, there are concerns that using the amendment or pushing for impeachment could encourage Trump to act rashly, putting the nation at even greater risk, the source added.
It comes as Congress moves closer to putting Trump through a second impeachment trial, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to introduce impeachment legislation this week if Pence does not remove Trump from office.
Pelosi unveils Trump’s impeachment plan
In a note to her Democratic colleagues, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday outlined how the House will proceed in its impeachment plans for Donald Trump after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol last week. .
Pelosi said they will ask for unanimous consent on a resolution giving Vice President Mike Pence 24 hours to remove Trump from office via the 25th amendment.
If no representative challenges the resolution, which is highly unlikely, then it will go to a vote in the Democratic majority House on Tuesday.
Should Pence fail to respond to the resolution, the House will move to impeach the president, possibly as early as Wednesday.

The vote came after Trump urged thousands of his supporters to march into the building last Wednesday, sparking chaos when rioters raped the Capitol and prompted the evacuation of both chambers. Five people perished during the chaos.
