Two men found his death premature when the taxi they were traveling in was involved in an accident in Gomoa Ankamu on Tuesday afternoon.

Abdul Wasiu Hudu, Public Relations Officer for the Central Region of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), who confirmed the accident, said it happened at 2.47 pm.

He said firefighters at the Apam fire station were briefed on the accident and rushed to the scene.

Hudu said the team found a taxi with registration number GS 5436-19, which was traveling from Mankessim to Accra lying on the roof with the occupants trapped inside.

He said firefighters had difficulty removing the two occupants who were found dead.

He said that although the cause of the accident was not immediately known, the taxi carried liquid substances suspected of being alcohol.

According to eyewitnesses, the taxi was seen moving dangerously on the highway and suddenly leaped and hit the rear of a Man Diesel truck in front of it, landing off the highway in the process.

The bodies of the two unidentified men have been deposited at St. Louis Catholic Hospital in Apam.
