Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta continues to put his stamp on his Gunners squad, as scrutiny around his future softens.
Entering the festive calendar, the Spaniard was believed to be in danger of losing his job, amid the club’s worst start to a season in the top flight since 1974.
But victories over Chelsea, Brighton and West Brom have eased concerns and moved attention to the January window.
Arteta has hinted that the improved form will not drastically alter his plans, and that the priority remains to download players.
Sead Kolasnic has already moved and joined Schalke from the Bundesliga on a loan, while other sidelines are expected to leave.
But that doesn’t mean revenue has been ruled out, as Arsenal look to continue their rise up the Premier League table.
Here’s the latest transfer news from Arsenal.
Buendía’s position revealed
Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia will push for him to move to Arsenal if Arteta’s men formalize their interest this month.
According to CBS Sports, the Gunners have had informal talks about a possible deal for the playmaker and are on his radar for the January window.
The report states that Arsenal hope to convince the Canaries to sell the Argentine using several players as pesos.
Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock are the two proposed names, although the championship club would still demand a hefty fee.
In the meantime, the player himself is interested in moving to North London and will inform his current club, in case an official offer is made.
Brandt U-turn
Just days after ruling out links between Julian Brandt and Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund boss Michael Zorc has refused to rule out a possible move.
Bild reporter Christian Falk said Mikel Arteta did have an interest in signing the 24-year-old, who signed for Dortmund after shining for Bayer Leverkusen.
Zorc had claimed that “there is nothing on the table” for Arsenal, but admitted that he was aware of the speculation surrounding the player.
“I read that too. I can’t say more about it. No one answered, there’s nothing on the table,” Zorc told Kicker.
However, after Brandt was an unused substitute in the win over Wolfsburg, the Dortmund manager said: “My years of activity have taught me that I don’t rule out anything at the beginning of a transfer period.”
Linked Dieng
Arsenal are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng.
The 26-year-old has impressed for the Championship team, putting on a number of eye-catching performances.
That could give him a move to the top flight, with the Gunners, Crystal Palace and Leeds tied, according to the Sun.
Arteta’s goalkeeping options were drastically altered in the summer window, with Emi Martinez leaving the club for Aston Villa.
Runar Alex Runarsson was hired as a possible replacement, but has struggled in his first appearances with the club.
That could force Arteta back to the market, but it will face competition from Leeds, which has made Dieng its main target.
