Serie A contenders Inter Milan are looking to sign the 32-year-old Manchester United veteran in the January transfer window.
Since Antonio Conte became Inter Milan’s manager, Manchester United have been one of the Italian team’s favorite clubs to sign players.
And while it seems like nothing more than a mere eventuality, the Red Devils have once again emerged as the Italian manager’s main target to fill his ranks at Inter. The signings of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sánchez and then Ashley Young only further emphasize the aforementioned notion that United have been a feeder club for the Italian giants for the past two years.
However, all of the players Conte has signed from the Red Devils either exceeded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s requirements or were looking to pursue their career elsewhere. Therefore, you will find many who say that both parties were happy with those agreements.
As reports coming from Italy suggest, Inter could choose to look once again to the English club’s current roster in hopes of making a possible addition next month.
According to Sky Sports Italia (via Tribal Football), Inter Milan is looking to push Nemanja Matic away from Manchester United in the January transfer window. The Serbian has lost his usual place in what has been a very unstable starting XI for United this season.

His increasing age indicates a massive drop in the mobility and stamina of the central defensive midfielder. The three-time Premier League champion, who played for Antonio Conte during his days at Chelsea, could consider Serie A the next destination in his professional career.
However, considering United’s current position in the league table and the belief of a possible Premier League title shot this season, January would not be the right time to leave. The Serbian international has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season.
With no leader and former Premier League champion of their kind in abundance these days, Matic’s presence adds stability and much-needed experience to the team.
So a January trade won’t make much sense, as long as Matic’s contract with the Red Devils expires in June 2023.
