Hearts of Oak coach Kosta Papic could not hide his joy at their 6-1 win against Bechem United, but angered by the poor tactical performance of his players during the match.
Hearts of Oak was in the clouds after beating Bechem United 6-1 on Matchday 7 of the Ghana Premier League at Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
It was the Phobians’ biggest victory since they beat New Edubiase United 5-2 during the 2012 campaign.
During the team’s post-game press session, Coach Papic indicated that the victory will serve as a morale boost for his players.
However, the Serbian strategist warned that victory will be meaningless if he does not follow it with another victory in his next game.
“Honestly, it is very good for us to be scoring six goals and very good for us to win the game to get closer to those who are above us. Very good for the players to lift morale and good for the management to start believing in the players, but this victory is useless if we don’t win the next game, ”he said in a post-match interview.
Papic also indicated his dissatisfaction with the inability of players to create and convert chances.
“We continue to fight tactically and technically to do something that is very important to us; that’s creating more chances and scoring more goals. We used the advantage we had and tactically prepared for the second half ”.
He warned the players that it is their duty to make opportunities count and that it is their duty to guide them.
“Papic is not going to produce anything, the players are going to produce chances and score goals. My duty is to make them feel that it is possible and try to score more goals than the rival. Today we scored six. We’ll see how many we are going to score next week and next week. We would try to score if the possibility exists, but if we don’t try, we will never score. “
Hearts of Oak is currently second on the record with 11 points from 7 games.
