Villarreal coach Unai Emery admitted that forward Takefusa Kubo is “looking for a way out” on his loan from Real Madrid.

Since joining Los Blancos in 2019 from FC Tokyo, the Japanese wonder boy spent last season on loan in Mallorca before being sent again this term to Villarreal de Emery.

Kubo has not settled well at the Estadio de la Cerámica and is eager to leave the club in January.

“I asked Kubo if he wanted to stay or go and he told me that he is looking for a way out,” coach Emery said after Villarreal’s 2-1 win over Levante on Saturday.

“Take’s behavior is good, he has helped us and he must continue to grow as a player, however, he told me that he wants to go to find more minutes elsewhere and that is why he was not on the squad today. ‘

Aware of Kubo’s desire for a new challenge in the second half of this season, Getafe president Ángel Torres revealed his interest in the fast winger.

“Kubo wants to come to Getafe,” Torres told Onda Cero.

“Yes, another reinforcement could be Carles Alena, but we are not going to go crazy.”

To allow the 19-year-old to end his assignment at Villarreal, they would have to reach an agreement with Real Madrid soon, which shouldn’t be too difficult given Kubo’s lack of involvement this season.

Madrid want the Japanese star to win more regular playing time and will seek to send him elsewhere to achieve that, with Getafe a real possibility.

Real Madrid is still looking for new hires and is eager to sign Eduardo Camavinga despite the fact that Luka Modric signs a new contract at the Bernabéu.

The Spanish giants see the Rennes midfielder as the future of their midfield, with his physique and positional flexibility key attributes.

Last week, veteran midfielder Modric, 35, extended his contract until June 2022.
