Tottenham Hotspur seems poised for a summer raid from PSG.
The French club will appoint Mauricio Pochettino as its new coach following the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel.
Pochettino, of course, became known as one of the best coaches in European football during his time at Spurs, devising two title challenges and a run to the final of the Champions League.
Not surprisingly, then, there are so many stories linking the players to a move from North London to the French capital.
The latest name on the hat is Hugo Lloris, the longtime Premier League goalkeeper.
The Sun reports that the club is concerned that PSG will make a move for their captain, and Lloris only has one year left on his current contract.
He has been with Spurs since 2012, when he moved from Lyon, and José Mourinho’s team is already looking for possible replacements.
West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and Manchester United’s Dean Henderson are potential targets; the former has been excellent for the Baggies this season and the latter has yet to dislodge David de Gea at Old Trafford.
Lloris remains the top choice at Spurs and has played in every Premier League game this season.
It is valued at £ 10.8 million by Transfermarkt and kept France’s goal when it won the World Cup in 2018.
Harry Sherlock of GIVEMESPORT says …
Well, this might be an unpopular opinion, but one has to think that the Spurs might be better off cashing here.
Lloris turned 34 on Boxing Day and is nearing the twilight of her career.
It’s worth saying, of course, that goalkeepers have a longer lifespan than outfield players, but it might be worth it for Spurs to listen to any proposal from PSG.
If they’re willing to pay a reasonable fee and the Spurs could buy Johnstone or Henderson, who are 27 and 23 respectively, it feels like a potential masterstroke.
Lloris can go watch the rest of his career in Paris and Tottenham can bring in a young man with a hunger for improvement and potentially remain his number one for the next decade.
