Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has called it an abandonment from all related international football.
This announcement means that he cannot play for the Black Stars, but will continue to play for his current club Hallas Verona and any other club of his choice.
Badu, 30, made his Black Stars debut in 2008 and went on to represent the country 78 more times, scoring 11 goals in the process. Former Udinese midfielder, who currently plays club football for the Italian Serie A team, Chievo Verona last played for the national team at AFCON 2017.
He won the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup with the Black Satellites and played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Badu represented Ghana in the 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu’s statement says …
“Although it has been a while since I left the national team, I am here today to say that the nation has been very great to me throughout my career with the national team and this day after speaking with my family and loved ones, I think it’s time to officially end my career on the national team. “
“I tried several times to win an Afcon for the nation after winning the U20 Africa Cup and the World Cup, but we only closed it twice.
“I am a bit disappointed, but I know that my colleagues will do that for us for years to come.
“I am available if the nation needs me to help in any way. Thank you Ghana and God bless us all, ”the statement concluded.
