Bawku Central Member of Parliament (MP) Mahama Ayariga has said he feels persecuted by the Special Prosecutor for an ongoing corruption investigation by the newly established office.

According to the MP, the evidence provided by the Office of the Special Prosecutor does not guarantee the level of disdain expressed by the SP towards him.

“I feel haunted … There’s no question about it,” he said. JoyNews’Evans Mensah.

The Special Prosecutor filed a lawsuit in court on March 22, 2019, citing Bawku Central MP for abuse of office.

He was also accused of tax evasion in vehicle dispatch and illegal transfer of foreign currency from Ghana to Dubai without having the required license to carry out such transaction.

The OSP has been relentless in carrying out this process against public criticism of non-existent convictions since the establishment of the Office.

But speaking in JoyNews‘PM Express, Mr. Ayariga described the” persecution “as unfortunate.

“I don’t think those facts warrant prosecution … When you buy an ambulance and the price is the declared value at customs with no benefit or compensation to the provider, clearly that should tell you that everyone involved in purchasing the ambulance did not he was there to defraud the state, “he explained on May 12, 2020.

Bawku’s central parliamentarian is of the opinion that the special counsel has not heeded the evidence he has provided that details his defense, as he is rather subject to questioning.

Mahama Ayariga also stated that Mr. Amidu hides behind the guise of justice to unnecessarily attack his person.

“You can see that this person is not looking for the truth. This person is not out to do justice. This person is only looking for Ayariga and believes they have found Ayariga, “added Mahama Ayariga.

However, he expressed his confidence in the courts “to do the right thing.”
