President Akufo-Addo has commissioned the first in a series of ongoing housing projects for the military under the Barracks Regeneration Program, in the Burma camp.
The newly constructed four-block Douala Barracks housing facilities comprise 64 two-bedroom residential units for officers of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
The $ 100 million barracks regeneration program launched in 2017.
Its objective, among others, is to solve the key challenges facing the Service, since accommodation is identified as a major concern.
Delivering a complete facility to serve as accommodation for 64 families, President Akufo-Addo urged the Armed Forces to take good care of houses with respect to maintenance, “so that they can stand the test of time.”
He announced that the roads of the Burma camp will be built soon.

The Duala Barracks Regeneration Project (BRP) consists of 4 blocks each with 16 2-bedroom apartments. Sixty-four troops and their families can live comfortably in these buildings.
